*****FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE*****
Twin Brook Winery, Gap, PA, has been awarded two medals in a California Wine Competition and three in the PA Farm Show Competition.
Twin Brook Winery’s Esperanza and Pinot Gris received Bronze Medals at the prestigious San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition earlier this month, one of only two Pennsylvania wineries, along with only a small percentage of East Coast wineries to receive awards in the competition that set a new American wine competition record with an astounding 5,500 entries.
For nine consecutive years, this prestigious competition holds strong as the “Largest Competition of American Wines in the World.” “This new record serves as an affirmation that every year wine consumers look toward the SFCWC award medal winning wines as a barometer when purchasing their wines," said Bob Fraser, SFCWC Executive Director. "We are thrilled that wineries all over the United States understand and respect the outstanding caliber of our 65 judges from throughout the wine industry and the country." Held at the Cloverdale Citrus Fairgrounds in Sonoma County, CA, the 65 professional wine experts within the media, restaurant and hospitality, education, winemaking and retail wine industries tasted and evaluated the world-record breaking 5,500 entries. Results were announced online at www.sfgate.com and www.winejudging.com on Friday afternoon, January 6, 2012.
The award-winning Esperanza, Twin Brook’s sparkler, is produced Méthode Champenoise. It is a natural (dry), Estate grown Chardonnay wine with good acid and pleasing yeasty undertones.
Twin Brook’s Estate grown Pinot Gris is an Alsatian style white wine; full bodied and slightly oaked with hints of lemon and a crisp, lingering citrus finish.
Twin Brook’s Pinot Gris also received honors at the 2012 PA Farm Show Competition, receiving a Bronze Medal. Two of Twin Brook Winery’s most popular sweet wines fared well also, Springhouse White was awarded a Silver Medal and a Bronze Medals went to Springhouse Red.
Patrons to Twin Brook Winery are invited to taste these award-winning wines or any of the other of their family of fine wines, including varietals made from vinifera and hybrid grapes, as well as delicate blends. Offered is a selection of wine intended to appeal to nearly every palate.
